Dream House

This project was basically the design of a dream house. We used a software called Revit, the software is very user friendly and as you build your floor plan the software constructs a 3D model of the house. This project in my opinion is one of the most important things that we have done in this class this year, we used all the knowledge we've been using all year and putin it together into this project where we were able to feel like engineers/ architects and truly understand what an engineer/architect does on a day to day basis. The design brief of the project and you will notice that my house is quite immense and arduous. On this page of the Portfolio I will take you through the different parts of my project and me ideology behind my work.
Most of the Knowlege that I had going into this project came from doing learning packets and activities from my instructor.

When I began brianstorming my house I had one idea in mind to make it the most extravagent and best suited house I could make.
First I would like to go over the first floor plan.

This my first floor plan and I will take you through it and describe my design and reasoning behind my design. The first thing that you will notice is that the house is quite large and the house is not completely dimensioned and furnished due to time constraints. The first thing that I would like to bring to your attention is the entry. There will be very large grand entry doors that will of course make and impression but it's what's behind those doors that truly describe the nature of the house. The foyer is larger than many other parts of the house and this is on purpose. This is something that I actually love, and that it a large foyer. When people walk into the house they will walk through the foyer and see the decorations, a possible center fountain and two grand curving staircases that will go up to the second floor. Below I have a picture of a foyer that is example but it is slightly smaller and does not have the fountain that my plan makes room for.

The next part of the house that you will see is the Mudroom and the Powder room. These may seem quite large, but with a large luxurious house like the one I designed bigger rooms are a norm. The Mud Room also acts as a coat closet and the powder room can be divided in two so one part will be a room to get makeup and quick things done and another room will act as a full bathroom. Then after walking through the foyer you will enter the living room, believe it or not the living room is about the same size as the living room and this is actually normal in larger houses. The living will be fully furnished and will have two large beautiful door ways to other parts of the house that I will get to later. Then after the living room comes the Kitchen, this kitchen includes a walk in pantry, a bathroom, access to outdoor patio ( not shown in first floor plan), and is unique in that it’s actually circular shaped. The kitchen also has direct access to a dining room to the right and is adjacent for convenience and the dining room acts as a family eating area as well. Then to the right on the living room you will see a family room and it will have a doorway that is beautiful and makes a statement see picture below.( The doors also act as the doorway to the pool room)

The family room/ TV Room is a place to relax with the family and just enjoy, the living room will be used more for formal company and guests. Now comes the highlight and most unmistakable part of the house and this is the hexagonal shaped room that all windows and includes a all glass roof and enclosure. This room is actually a sunroom and natatorium. There will be nor second floor and the ceiling will very high with again a glass roof. The first floor is equipped with a lot of storage like a closet for pool storage, and rooms for things like the pool filter that can either go in the basement or the pool storage room. The pool room will be the highlight of the house and be air conditioned so it can be used in all weather see picture below. The first floor also inculudes a four car garadge that that has its own hall acess to the house.

Heres how the natorioum room looks like from the outside looking at the house looking on the eastern direction.

The Second Floor

The second floor is a lot more simple than the first floor and the staircase can be seen but i had a lot of trouble with the star case and If i had more time I could go back and try my best to get the staircases to look right. The second floor has 4 bedrooms all 4 bedrooms have a private bathroom windows and of course a closet. For some reason the first floor floors burst through and if I had more time I would go back and fix that. The center of the floor is like a center area that can connect you to all the bedrooms and has a hallway that leads to a very special room. This rooms is adjacent to the pool room and has a a opening with a diving board. This room is where I really wanted to take my creativity to the next level and make something different. This room is a connection to the second floor and naturally will have elevation due to it being on the second. Imagine waking up going to the bathroom and then jumping into you pool on the first floor from the second floor. If I had time I would have made space to get a stair case going to the second floor from the natatorium. The second floor also includes a public bathroom and a laundry room for convenience.

The next part of the house is the basement and I did not have time to really get into the area and build a staircase and furniture as well as walls. But I do have a vision for what the room can become and the first thing is theatre. The outline of the natatorium is perfect for the basement and I feel it has the space and needs to make a very nice and good theatre. The other half can be converted into a game room and even include a batting cage and driving practice box. The outline of the basement is shown below.

The roof is a unique addition to the house when you see the roof of the house is very big and overtakes the house. Something about having a huge roof appeals to me and having such a big room also adds a possibility of having a nice big attic. Not just any attic an attic that can be used as a basketball court and a tennis court. Here below there are pictures of the roof and the shear size of the roof.

The pictures include a rendered picture of the house (below) and view looking in the northern direction (above) and a 3D model of the house.
